Paul and Lydia

Verses Covered
Bible - Acts 16:11-15
Spark Bible - pages 532 to 535

As we enter the final month in our observance of the season of Eastertide, we are continuing with the ministry of Paul as he travels to Philippi and meets a woman named Lydia.  The story of Lydia is likely a microcosm of how the early church began to spread, with the initial contact taking place through itinerant preaching, followed by one-on-one conversation with anyone who was interested in what was said.  Although the passage about Lydia is short, her enthusiasm to learn about Jesus and her sponsorship of Paul is a window into how some of communities that Paul eventually wrote to may have developed.
