Morning Prayers
Lord, in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I lay it all out before you, then I wait expectantly.
- Psalm 5:3 (Common English Bible)
Although many of us out there struggle to even collect our thoughts some mornings, saying a prayer with our kids shortly after we wake up (or after they wake us up!) can be an excellent way to focus our hearts and minds on God’s presence and to frame the day ahead.
Loving Prayer for Infants/Toddlers
________,
I love your cheeks, and God does too. (kiss cheek!)
I love your nose, and God does too. (kiss nose!)
I love your ears, and God does too. (kiss ear!)
I love you from your head down to your toes,
and God does too! Amen.
Morning Smiles for Infants/Toddlers
_____, seeing you brings a smile to my face;
my love for you could never be replaced.
When we're together, or when we're apart
know that you'll always have a piece of my heart.
God, for this new day we give you thanks and praise!
We love you not just now, but always!
Caring for Others
Every day, God, is a gift from you. May I be a gift to others too:
Give me strength and patience, give me kindness and care,
help me share your love, with everyone, everywhere.
Every day, God, is a gift from you. May I be a gift to others too! Amen.
Prayers for a New Day
As the sun rises again bringing warmth and light,
we thank you, God, for watching over us last night.
Be with us in the day ahead and guide each of our steps;
help us to follow you in this world you have blessed! Amen.
Reminders
Holy God, each new morning is a reminder of your love:
light that reminds us you are here in this room,
warmth that reminds us you surround us with care,
chirping birds that remind us of your creation,
smiles that remind us of your kindness.
Help me to remind others of your love today,
and help remind me of how deeply I am loved. Amen.
