Verses Covered
Bible - Luke 1:39-56
Spark Bible - pages 202 to 208
Devotion: In this passage, Mary, who is filled with excitement of expecting a baby, pays her cousin Elizabeth a surprise visit to share her amazing news. Elizabeth is also expecting a baby and is overjoyed to see her cousin and learn of the wonderful news. They both rejoiced and praised God for the many blessings God had given to them.
How often are we so excited to share wonderful news with our friends and loved ones? We like to call them life’s “Guess What?” moments. Maybe it’s something new we learned at school. Maybe a project at work was a success or perhaps you and your family are getting to take that trip you’ve always wanted. Whatever it may be, large or small, God specializes in these “Guess What?” blessings.
Sometimes our prayers are answered quickly while others may take some time. However as shown in the passage, if we have patience, faith and believe, God will answer our prayers. As our daughter summarized, “God will listen to people that does correct things for people”.
Reflection: Who do you like to share your good news with? By sharing how God blesses us with others it not only makes us feel good but it can also encourage someone else too. For it can be a reminder that through God, anything is possible.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for all of Your blessings. Help us to always be grateful to you and to remember to share with others how you bless us every day.
