Day 9 - Friday
Bible Verses: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Spark Bible: The Sower (p.292)
Devotion: Jesus talks in this passage about how he throws out seeds. The seeds land in different places. What if where the seeds land represent different types of families? Some families don't go to church, so maybe the children don't know about God. When God speaks to them they don't understand, so the seeds never take root. Some families believe in God but don't go to church as often. Maybe they hear what God says and make a change that day. They are like the seeds in the rocks that grow quickly but then wither because they have no root. Some families come to church a lot and when they hear God they understand. Maybe those are the families who are the fertile soil.
Reflection: Think about where Jesus would have thrown your seed and how his seed could impact your life today.
Prayer: God, you have shown me all the different types of families. Help us try to be the family that is fertile soil. Amen
