Day 33 - Friday
Bible Verses: Luke 19:41-48
Spark Bible: The Chief Priests (p.460)
Devotion: In the time leading up to Passover, the merchants of Jerusalem made a very bad choice in selling their goods and trading their coins in the temple rather than in the marketplace. Why would they do this in the temple? It’s a place of prayer, not a store. Jesus and his followers entered the temple expecting to find people praying.
When Jesus found people selling goods, he felt angry, sad, and disappointed. Then he pushed over the tables and marched around the courtyard driving the merchants out into the streets so that the temple could turn back into a house of God.
Reflection: Have you ever done something that you shouldn’t have done in the house of God? How did it make you feel and how could you have made a better choice? Did you apologize and ask for forgiveness?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for friends and family and that we all have a welcoming, comfortable, and safe place to gather, pray and worship. Amen.
