Day 27 - Friday
Bible Verses: Luke 15:1-10
Spark Bible: The Lost Sheep and the Coin (p.378)
Devotion: “Oh no… where did I put it? I just put it down, but it’s not there anymore!” When we hear these two stories told by Jesus about a sheep and a coin that were lost, we think about all of the times in our lives when we’ve lost things. Losing something is a terrible feeling. But sometimes being the one who is lost is even worse!
One year during the Fourth of July, my family went to a big fireworks celebration in a neighboring town. There were thousands of people there but I was old enough where my parents felt comfortable letting me run around with my friends. Later on that night, after it had gotten dark, I realized that I didn’t remember the way back to our family’s blanket. I walked around for a little bit but then I got really scared that they wouldn’t find me and would end up having to leave without me. Being the one who is lost is a really terrible feeling too!
Thankfully a police officer helped me find my family and I remember all of us being so happy to be together again. It’s the exact same way with God. Even if we feel like we are lost sometimes, God is always waiting to welcome us with great joy when we pray or talk to him.
Reflection: Have you ever been lost before? How did you feel when you were found? How did the person who found you feel?
Prayer: Dear God, even when I am feeling lost please help me know that I can always turn to you. Amen
