Day 18 - Tuesday
Bible Verses: Luke 10:25-37
Spark Bible: The Good Samaritan (p.360)
Devotion: In this passage Jesus talks about what we need to do to live with God forever. He tells us to love our "neighbor" as much as we love ourselves. A "neighbor" can be someone who lives close to you, someone at school, church or even in your family. One way you can love your neighbor is helping when they really need your help. It is the people who love God who stop what they are doing to help another person. Maybe God wants us to be unselfish and take care of others, without being asked to show our love for Him?
Reflection: Has anyone every stopped what they are doing to help you? What happened? Have you ever seen a person in need of your help? Perhaps next time you are on the playground or soccer field and a friend falls and gets a little scrape, you might stop what you are doing to help your buddy or "neighbor" even if it means not winning the game or the race.
Prayer: Dear God, teach us to love others as much as we love ourselves. Help us to care for people every day, even if it’s something little. We love you. Amen.
