Crafts and Activities for Zacchaeus

Most of the credit goes to the website Crafting the Word of God!  Go support them if you feel inclined!

For Younger Children:

  • Find Zacchaeus in the Tree game
  • To play, print out (or create) around 12 matching leaves, as well as a picture of Zacchaeus
    • Zacchaeus - https://craftingthewordofgod.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/zacchaeus4.pdf
    • Leaves on page 3 - https://www.firstpalette.com/pdf/leaf-maple.pdf
  • Color in the leaves and Zacchaeus, then tape Zacchaeus onto the back of one of the leaves.
  • Mix up the leaves and say, "We can't find Zacchaeus up in the tree, so we're going to take turns trying to find him!"
  • Take turns drawing leaves with your toddler/preschooler until you have a winner!

  • Zacchaeus coloring sheets

For Older Children

  • Painting Zacchaeus in a Tree
    • For this craft, you'll need a template, scissors, markers, glue, paint, and (preferably) Q-Tips
    • Print out the template: https://craftingthewordofgod.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/zacchaeus4.pdf
    • Cut out Zacchaeus, color him in, and then glue him onto the tree.
    • Using Q-Tips and a variety of greens, browns, or oranges (depending on the season), paint in the leaves around Zacchaeus using the Q-Tips to make dots or smears.

  • Creating this scene using Legos/Minecraft/other building materials
    • If your child is into building things, perhaps consider challenging them to recreate the scene of Zacchaeus climbing a tree to get above the crowd to see Jesus!
