Crafts and Activities for Palm Sunday

For Younger Children:

  • Palm Palms
  • To create, you'll need a few sheets of green paper, scissors, a crayon/marker, glue/tape, and a popsicle stick
    • To see an example, click here: http://ohamanda.com/2011/04/18/palm-palms-a-giveaway-the-beginning-of-our-resurrection-week/
  • Have your child trace the outline of their hand on green paper several times.
  • Cut out these handprints and glue them onto something sturdy like a popsicle stick.  You now have personalized palms!

For Older Children

  • Create Paper Bag Donkeys
    • For a step-by-step walkthrough, visit: https://www.messforless.net/paper-bag-donkeys/
    • You'll need (at minimum): a paper lunch bag or grocery bag, markers, scissors, and glue
    • You can do this craft with younger children, too - just be prepared to help a lot!

  • Making a cross out of palm fronds
    • We do this craft every year in our Sunday School classes, but you might have to get a little creative with creating your own palm fronds with scissors and green paper.  Just make sure your palm frond is as long as your paper allows for... try going diagonal!
    • Once you have a long, skinny palm frond, follow the instructions listed here: https://www.catholicicing.com/how-to-fold-a-palm-cross-in-10-easy-steps/
